Congressman Gene Green

Representing the 29th District of Texas

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month 2014

September 16, 2014
Speech

Hi, this is Gene Green, your representative for the 29th District of Texas.

I hope you’ll join me in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing the contributions that Hispanic Americans have made to our nation.

Hispanic Americans have long been an integral part of our country—from the classroom to the boardroom to the battlefield.

Nowhere is this truer than in Texas, where many Hispanic Americans have roots going back centuries and whose contributions have been an inseparable part of our state’s history, culture, and economic success.

Our nation’s future is linked to the future of the Hispanic community.

That’s why there is still more work that needs to be done to address issues that affect the Hispanic community, such as improving the high school graduation rate, and of course, passing comprehensive immigration reform.

We will continue to work to address these to ensure a stronger future for us all.

It is a pleasure to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

Thank you.
