DOT awards Southwest Airlines slots at Reagan Airport for daily nonstop flights to Houston Hobby
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Gene Green announced news that the Department of Transportation has awarded Southwest Airlines two slot exemptions at Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC to Southwest Airlines for one daily nonstop round-trip to Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas.
Congressman Green represents the Houston Hobby airport in the 29th Congressional District and was instrumental in working with Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood to secure the slots.
Rep. Green stated, “This will be great for Houston and is a sign of the amount of economic growth that is occurring in Houston. Hobby Airport is a tremendous asset in the Greater Houston area and I’m thrilled to see it receive more business. Adding more flights will only increase the possibilities for further progress.”
Southwest will be required to inaugurate full service no later than August 5, 2013.
