Rep. Green on Social Security 2012 COLA increase
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Gene Green released the following statement after the Social Security Administration announced today that there will be a 3.6% Cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries beginning in 2012:
“I’m glad to hear that there will finally be a cost-of-living adjustment for seniors next year. There are close to 3.5 million Social Security beneficiaries in Texas that depend on Social Security for their livelihood. For the last three years, I’ve heard their concerns about seeing their costs rise without seeing an increase to their Social Security. As medical costs continue to grow, it’s critical that our seniors have the resources they need and depend on.”
